It'll take some effort to keep it headed in the direction you want to go. You *might* be able to correct for some of that by adjusting the torque tab. But once you have it pointed in the right direction, it should stay pretty much on course provided you have some means of holding the helm steady. I wouldn't recommend leaving the helm unattended for any length of time under any circumstance. and it won't be as efficient as with the motor mounted in the center.
