Olton Mere occupies a large area of land between St Bernard's Road and the A41, it is the property of the British Waterways who lease it out to the Olton Mere Sailing Club. The contentious issue of public access to the banks of the Mere has not been resolved to the satisfaction of many local people. The Mere was originally built as a feeder for the Grand Union Canal.
Olton has a strong residents' association that liaises with Solihull Council and other bodies to improve the locality
Two golf Golf is a precision club-and-ball sport, in which competing players , using many types of clubs, attempt to hit balls into each hole on a golf course while employing the fewest number of strokes. Golf is one of the few ball games that does not require a standardized playing area. Instead, the game is played on golf "courses", each of clubs lie in the wealthy southern part of Olton, namely Robin Hood Golf Club and Olton Golf Club, as does a hockey club Olton and West Warwickshire Hockey Club.
